The Governor appoints the eight members and chairperson with the advice and consent of the Illinois Senate. Members serve four-year terms; the State Superintendent is appointed separately by the Board and is not a Board member.

Capitol News Illinois reports that consumer and environmental advocates delivered more than 10,000 comments to the Illinois Commerce Commission opposing Peoples Gas’ proposed $144 million rate increase. The groups also sought changes to the utility’s pipe-replacement program; the rate request remains a regulatory proposal.
